That was in Cambodia, a basis for a movie
But we are sowing our own fields, our own streets
With violence and murder.
It’s here in our backyards
The tragedy, the sorrow
We are bombing our buildings.
We are killing in our schools, our churches
Our homes are not havens
Our students are not safe.
Blood and hate do not make good fertilizer
They destroy the land and the landscape
The earth cries out.
But we need to cry out
Against the violence
Consider the lilies of the field.
